Kuwait's Health Minister Dr. Basil Al-Sabah on Wednesday announced the success of the first industrial heart transplant for a 14-year-old Kuwaiti child, with the participation of a German medical team and elite Kuwaiti doctors.
The operation, which was carried out at the pin Center for Heart disease, was quoted by KUNA news agency as saying that he went to the Al-Adan Hospital, which lasted about seven hours, asserting that it was considered "very accurate" compared to the age of the patient and the size of the pump.
"The process is 61 worldwide, and the first one is at the level of the Middle East region," he said, adding that this "achievement" gives the ministry motivation to seek to establish specialized centres for the treatment of all heart diseases and to establish an integrated heart-transplant programme to alleviate the treatment programme abroad.
The Ministry of Health had been able to implement its plans, provide the necessary health support with a view to upgrading Kuwait and implement sustainable development plans.
